Weekly US coal carloads up 7.4%, 2013 carloads down 4.3%: AAR

The weekly number of coal carloads originated in the US totaled 93,999 for the week ending December 28, up 7.4% from a year ago, according to the weekly rail traffic report issued Thursday by the Association of American Railroads. The Washington-based AAR said US coal carload origina tions through Week 52 totaled 5,769,626, down 4.3% from 2012. The year-end total is down 14.6% from 2011.
