Central Appalachian thermal coal spot prices closed lower Thursday, as bearish market data weighed on both the physical and swap over-the-counter markets, while call options were seen trading in the PRB market, potentially a relatively bullish sign there. In the CAPP barge market, the October contract was seen trading 50 cents/st lower after the release of the weekly natural gas storage report for the week ended August 29, which came in at 79 Bcf of working gas storage, above the Platts poll of a build in the 72-76 Bcf range.
