A series of novel amphiphilic fluorene-benzothiadiazole-bridged organic sensitizers (coded as MR dyes) were designed for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The DSSCs based on MR-2 and MR-3 exhibited power conversion efficiencies of 3.7 and 4.0% under one-sun condition.
