Flexible packaging is the single largest end-use of plastic raw materials, not just in India, but in most parts of the world. It accounts for about 40% of total polymers consumption in India - 3-mt of a total polymer consumption of 8.5-mt in 2011. And the market is expected to grow. By 2016-17 -the terminal year of the 12~(th) Five Year Plan - consumption of all polymers is expected to reach 17-mt, and share of flexible packaging is expected to reach an impressive 7-mt.
