Coromandel and SQM of Chile establish water-soluble fertiliser plant in AP

The 50:50 joint venture between Coromandel, a Murugappa Group firm, and SQM of Chile, has set up India's first water-soluble fertiliser plant at Kaki-nada in Andhra Pradesh. The 15,000-tpa plant is all set to go into commercial production soon.Water-soluble fertilisers are crop specific products designed to increase yield and quality ofagri-products and involve relatively lower labour, power and water requirements. Currently, India consumes about 70,000-tonnes of these fertilisers, all of which is imported.
