Europe places first six substances on REACH authorization list

The European Commission has moved six chemical "substances of very high concern" (SVHCs) from the candidate list to the authorization list under the European Union's (EU) REACH regulation. These substances will be banned within the next three to five years, unless an authorisation has been granted to individual companies for their use.
