The Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee's one-time grant of Rs. 200-crore towards installation of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) with zero liquid discharge system at Tirupur has been welcomed by the dyeing units in the region. Mr. A. Sakthivel, President, Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), said the implementation of the project would solve the pollution problems faced by the dyeing units. The treated effluents are proposed to be taken through a pipeline via Perundurai, Erode and Karur for discharge into the sea, after complying with norms specified by the Pollution Control Board.
