DSM and Mitsubishi Chemical to exchange polycarbonate and polyamide businesses

DSM Engineering Plastics, a unit of the Netherlands-based Royal DSM N.V., has signed contracts with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) enabling DSM to acquire MCC's 'No-vamid' polyamide business in exchange for DSM's 'Xantar' polycarbonate business. The deal also involves ex- change of key employees of both the firms.In May 2009, both companies had announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the intended swap. For both companies the businesses they will add to their portfolios as a result of the intended swap of activities provide a strong strategic fit.
