Honeywell's UOP bags AlChE sustainable energy award

UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, has been awarded the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) '2010 Sustainable Energy Award' for its work on biofuels process technology. The AIChE award recognises contributions toward the innovation, sustainability and conservation of energy through the application of chemical engineering. UOP was recognised for developing process technology to broaden the range of feedstock options for the creation of high quality biofuels. "The solutions we have created to convert biological feedstock into real, drop-in fuels are not only economically viable under current regulations, but they are aligned with today's standard refinery practices and can greatly contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions," commented Mr. Rajeev Gautam, President and CEO of Honeywell's UOP.
