Waters Corporation joins up with University of Maryland to set up food safety training lab

Waters Corporation and the University of Maryland have formed a partnership to establish "the first facility in the world" to train scientists from foreign governments and manufacturers on the state-of-the-art methods of analysis that will help them meet US food safety standards, said a press note from Waters. Set to open next year, the International Food Safety Training Laboratory (IFSTL) will be operated by the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (JIFSAN), a collaboration between the University of Maryland and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
