Asahi Kasei Chemicals has agreed to buy DuPont out of Asahi-DuPont POM (ADZ; Zhangjiagang, China), an equally owned joint venture for the production and marketing of polyacetal (POM) copolymer in China. Asahi Kasei Chemicals and DuPont will seek approvals from the Chinese government and begin discussions with customers on the transition. The timing of the share transfer and a new name for the company will be determined if approvals are granted. Asahi Kasei Chemicals and the Chinese subsidiary of Asahi Kasei would each hold 50% in ADZ, on completion of the transaction.
