IHS: Formaldehyde market shifting to Asia amid rapid demand growth

Formaldehyde plant operating rates are currently low, but rapid growth in downstream resin markets is quickly absorbing the excess, and, by 2018, additional production capacity will be required to meet future demand, according to analysts at IHS Chemical. In a recent report, World Analysis—Formaldehyde & Resins 2014, IHS says that China, already the largest single market for formaldehyde, will remain the primary driver of demand growth.
