Clariant has officially opened a ?100-million ($134-million) innovation center at the Hochst industrial park, near Frankfurt. The Clariant Innovation Center (CIC) was inaugurated by CEO Hariolf Kottmann in the presence of local politicians and other guests. It is "by far Clariant's largest single investment," and will serve as a global hub for R&D, Kott-mann said at the inauguration. The CIC will focus on chemical research and process technology. It has 90 laboratories serving Clariant business units and includes new business development facilities.
