Construction and analysis of simultaneous interpreting corpus on dialogues

In recent years, there have been studies on simultaneous machine interpretation to develop the environments for supporting multilingual communications. How much the simultaneous interpretation works effectively for cross-language conversation, however, needs to be made. This paper describes the characteristic features of dialogues through simultaneous interpreting, comparing with those through consecutive interpreting. We have investigated them using CIAIR simultaneous interpreting corpus (version 2001). As a result, we have confirmed that simultaneous interpretation is effective for increasing the efficiency and cohesion significantly.
