Effects of a strong magnetic field of 10 T on themicrostructure and kinetics of ferrite transformation behaviorsin Fe-based alloys were investigated systematically using avacuum electric furnace installed in a helium-freesuperconducting magnet. It was found that a magnetic field of10 T significantly stimulates ferrite and pearlite transformations.The rates of ferrite nucleation and growth were measured withand without a magnetic field. It was found that a magnetic fieldof 10 T increases the nucleation rate of ferrite and increases theparabolic rate constant above a certain temperature, between973 K and 993 K, but decreases below this temperature. Apossible mechanism is discussed.
