Once upon a time, when telecom companies were proud national standard bearers of engineering excellence, one could be fairly certain that only the best equipment was chosen by appropriate engineers to serve the telecom network's needs.But those days are over: While "standards" exist, few network operators employ the engineering expertise to rigorously test the equipment vendors offer to network ODerators.
