THE CURRENT STATE AND GEOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC APPRAISAL OF WORLD AND RUSSIAN OIL RESOURCES

摘要

The past XX century was notable for a rapid development of industry and high growth rates of energy consumption. This was accompanied by rapid switching from less effective to highly effective and more ecologically sound sources of energy. If the XIX century was considered the century of coal, the XX century may be named the century of oil.Economic efficiency of the use of oil as a primary source of energy, traditional orientation toward oil as motor fuel and chemical raw material facilitated increase of its share in the fuel and energy balance. Growth rate of world oil production was particularly high in the second half of the XX century. During this period, its production grew 15 times and exceeded 3 billion t.
