摘要

The best professionals and crafts-people I've met might work in disparate fields, but they all have one thing in common. Whether they are geneticists, physicists, luthiers, photographers, journalists, archivists, physicians, administrators, economists, or collection development or user experience specialists, they all take meticulous notes as they work. For some of these professions, a logbook is a critical record-keeping technique, subject to review for accreditation and licensing. For others, a notebook is an available tool to log progress on creative endeavors. Even when a thought process or workflow is nonlinear and full of distraction, good note-keeping can act as a mental organizing technique, ensuring key ideas are not lost.
