Simultaneous Evaluation of Acidic and Basic Properties of Solid Catalysts by a New TPD Method Operated in a Reduced Pressure

摘要

Acidic and basic properties of solid catalysts were simultaneously measured by conducting the dc-TPD method, developed previously by the authors, by using NH_3 and CO_2 as probe molecules. NH_3 and CO_2 were co-adsorbed on a catalyst in advance, then the TPD spectra of NH_3 and CO_2 were measure in a reduced pressure, to realize the desorption control condition. The distributions of the activation energy of desorptions of NH_3 and CO_2 were calculated as acidic and basic properties of four kinds of zeolites, two alumina and a zirconia. The reaction rate constants of the dehydrogenation of ethanol of the above catalysts were found to be well related as one straight line to the acidic properties obtained by the above method.
