Development of evaluation methods and use of cosmetics as skin care products for atopic dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis has increased over the last three decades in developed countries. The explanation for this increased prevalence is unclear. Attention has focused on the environment and, in particular, high allergen exposure as a major trigger to the onset of this disease, mainly in the atopic dermatitis. Possibly an inflammatory reaction is induced in the airways, facilitating the penetration of allergens and enhancing antigen presentation. There is a strong link between atopic dermatitis and socio-economic advantage and with smaller family size. These findings suggest that environmental factors account for a large part of the variation in prevalence of atopic dermatitis,and that time would be well spent in researching correlates of attributes such correlated with a Western lifestyle. The following study was conducted with several goals in mind.
