The possibility of the sucrose metabolism regulation during sugar beet leaves senescence by physiologically active substances (PAS) -- kinetin, IAA, BAP and 2,4D was studied. It is found that in the treated plants by BAP and IAA during senescence thechlorophyll content was 2,5 times higher, the protein content was also higher, and sucrose phosphate synthase (SPS) was activated. Kinetin and 2,4D were less effective: kinetin did not increase the SPS activity, and 2,4D increased it from the middle ofvegetation. All studied PAS increased the SPS activity in direct contact with enzyme in vitro. The sucrose syntase of sugar beet roots was not activated by PAS.
