Toxic metabolites of the phytopathogenic fungus Drechslera gramineum Rabh. causing the barley stripe have been used for creation of selective media. The fungal toxin in concentrations inhibiting the growth of roots of one-day barley seedlings (test-object) by 10, 30 and 50% was added to the Murashige-Skoog medium for callus initiation and plant regeneration. As a result of selection in vitro some cell lines resistant to pathogene have been obtained and the plants were regenerated. It was established that the resistance character selected at the cell level was expressed at the plant level.
