Semen quality was evaluated for 12 groups of cocks fed different levels of grass meal (5-20%)in the diet and feed containing different levels of a vitamin A supplement (0-15 million IU/tonne) and vitamin E supplement (20-50 g/tonne). It was concluded that semen quality was highest on a diet containing 20% grass meal, supplemented with 35 g/tonne of vitamin E. In a 2nd experiment, hens were inseminated with 80 million spermatozoa at intervals of 5, 6 or 7 days, 100 million spermatozoa every 6, 7 or8 days, or with 120 million spermatozoa at intervals of 7, 8 or 9 days. A control group of hens was inseminated with 80 million spermatozoa every 6 days. Differences among the insemination treatments were not significant in respect of egg fertility and hatchability.
