Growth of microalgae population in nutrient media enriched with singlet oxygen

The influence of singlet oxygen on the growth of a population of microalgae was studied. Growth of the culture of microalgae in media enriched with photosensitizers was suppressed. This is accompanied by photooxidation of chlorophyll and disturbance of the medium redox balance. The rate of survival of the cell population depends on the chemical composition of the photosensitizer.
