摘要

Ecology of reproduction in squids is considered in various natural habitats of different climatic zones. The duration of physiological maturation (vitellogenesis) appears to depend neither on the habitat where reproduction takes place (shelf or open ocean) nor the taxonomic position of species. The maturation is determined mainly by egg size and environmental temperature. Most of the investigated decapod species is characterized by the round-the-year spawning with two alternative seasonal peaks. The basic peak is aimed to used the spring outbreak of zooplankton, the other one is related to the autumn increase of its mass. Seasonal position of the spawning peaks depends both on the duration of embryogenesis and the distances between spawning grounds and juvenile foraging ones as well. The extremely expressed r-strategy in reproduction is characteristic of surface ocean waters in tropical regions. The features of K-strategy becomes more pronounced when passing polewards, inshore and into the depths of ocean.
