Ground penetrating radar has been attracting interest in recent years for purpose of detecting pipes, sewage lines, tunnels and other subsurface spaces in situations calling for nondestructive exploration and evaluation. Not only the locations and sizes but also the electrical property distributions of buried objects are of interest. We proposed a forward-backward time-stepping (FBTS) algorithm for reconstructing electrical property distributions of buried cylindrical objects. However, much calculation time is required, when the survey region enlarged. The reconstruction area is estimated by using the synthesis aperture processing, and tomography method is used for the estimated reconstruction area.
