FDTD formulation for analysis of elastic wave fields in cylindrical coordinates

摘要

In this paper, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) formulation in cylindrical coordinates is given, as applied or analyzing elastic wave fields. The formulation is derived in the axisymmetrical geometry, so that 3D problems can be treated as 2D ones. By applying Gauss's theorem, we avoid the infinity at the center axis, which comes out due to the term 1/ r. The calculated values of the velocities of longitudinal, shear and surface waves propagation in the solid ale shown to be in a good agreement with the theoretical ones. A comparison with the results of other researchers is also given and a satisfied correspondence is obtained. In the given example, we analyze the wave propagation in an axisymmetrical cylindrical sample, which is a homogeneous and isotropic solid. As a result, the generation and propagation of longitudinal, shear and surface waves can be observed clearly.
