Hyperlinks have an important role on the Web. A high possibility exists that semantic relevance is between neighborhood content in the link space constituted by the content connected by the hyperlink. Therefore, more precision can be expected, not by searching a wide area using a general search engine, but by searching more specific areas by defining the topics or referring to link contexts, which is how they are linked to other content. To achieve this retrieval, we made a personal information retrieval system using cooperative servers (PIRCS), which is a search engine that considers the function share requested to the server and the client and link context as a whole. We expanded the cooperative Web architecture on the server side, we introduced fundamental management of retrieval indexes, an evaluation of similarity, a notice function for consistency maintenance of the index between the servers, etc. We designed the client side to have a link space browser where the connection of the content in the link space can be read and a personalization function. We introduced the expansion header of HTTP for communicating additional information between the servers and between the server and client. And, we introduced a search filter in a plug-in form for a similarity decision between the search key and the content that is the essential processing of the retrieval correspond to various Content-type and the purpose of retrieval.
