Roaming the historic part of a town freely and casually, discovering the environment and getting all the same qualified information - is that possible? When you are out and about unaccompanied, you often lack information and direction. Perhaps you have catalogues and maps, but the search is sometimes tiresome and time consuming. Or you participate in a guided tour, but then your very individual interests may remain unconsidered. There is a need for quite different kinds of information like route descriptions, the selection of a restaurant, or historical data of sights. Location-based Services (LBS) offer new possibilities to supply the visitor with individual, tailor-made information. The user can move freely through the town recalling, for example, history related to his current position.
