Conveyance Technique with Pipeline for High Density Dredged Soft Mud

Compressed air transfer of high-densitysoft mud in pipelines was developed to improveefficiency and environmental preservation in dredgingand the transport of soft sea bottom mud. MitsubishiHeavy Industries used hydraulic concrete pumps withhigh-pressure pistons to pump soft mud clarify itsrheology. We confirmed the efficiency of soft mudtransport in field tests. We developed the world'slargest force feeder for high-density soft mud with ahigh-pressure hydraulic piston pump. Pump exhaustpressure is 7.4 MPa, the flow rate is 1000 m3/h, andthe transport distance is 1000 m.
