By applying accepted program development principles when creating Vitesse programs, a number of benefits can be achieved. To minimise the migration effort in such cases, we exploit that Vitesse developers encapsulate the Tribon functionality into our own functions. The major portion of present material operations in China ShipBuilding Corporation's (CSBC) design department depends on the construction data of CSBC's sister ships or other foreign shipyards' built ships to estimate the required amounts of outfitting and then to be the practical statistic material information. Because estimating the great amounts of outfitting by people is a minute and complicated work, and the production information from the upstream design to downstream procurement is not integrated yet, it usually directly impacts the count management in the construction unit, and obstructs the achieved percentage of scheduled progress [1]. For solving the thorny problem, via reconstructing the rationalized and standardized work process the operation of the production control could be advanced by the design stage, and planning the detail construction completed, streamlining the information flow to integrate with the current operation procedure could offer the construction site the right and effective production information. To translate the concept into a real action, in the design stage we utilize Vitesse, an easy and productive way to create customised, user developed Tribon extensions (Vitesse programs) in an object oriented language enabled with access to the Tribon Product Information Model and Tribon Core Modelling functionality, which has been integrated with Tribon to form the programmable environment in which a Vitesse program is created. Data in the Tribon data banks are accessible via the Data Extraction facilities [2], It is possible to retrieve specific information from one or several Tribon objects by specifying the type and name of the model object and the wanted item within the object. Further, if the data extracted form PIM can be merged with the existent external Supply Chain Management (SCM) system, so the production information in Management Information System (MIS) can been updated spontaneously (Figure 1).
