The influence of the salt composition of casein-water-Cd (NO_3)_2 and defatted milk -Cd (NO_3)_2 systems on the partition of Cd~(2+) during acidic precipiation of casein was studied. The conditions that minimize the content of the toxicant ion in the isolated protein (pH and salt composition) are determined.
