摘要

Photonic band structure of a two-dimensional photonic crystal, which is composed of a square lattice with chiral rods, is considered. Substituting the constitutive relations for a chiral medium into Maxwell's equations and discretizing the resulting equations, one can obtain the electromagnetic field components in the unit cell of the chiral photonic crystal with the transfer matrix method. The photonic band structure for electromagnetic waves is found by solving the eigenvalue problem for the transfer matrix. The numerical results show the photonic band structures of two chiral photonic crystals.
