Ballistic performance of various ceramic composite plates with KFRP back-up plate was studied.The results showed conoid zone in ceramics showed significant difference between each ceramics, under the impact condition used, and its conoid zone was more predominant factor than mechanical properties of ceramics to determine the ballistic performance of composite plates. However, when the difference in conoid zone between each ceramics was small, ceramic performance could not be graded because impact load distributions in conoid zone had some effects on the deformation patterns of KFRP back-up plates.
