Portable electronic equipment has recently been improved in respect of (reduced) size and weight and advanced functions. In particular, cellular phones, which are characteristic of portability and convenience to make calls possible anywhere, have attained present high penetration owing to reduction in size and price and standby I talk time extended by low power consumption. To meet the market needs, Fuji Electric developed 48-pin-packaged power supply IC (integrated circuit) for cellular phones which integrates six regulators, a battery charging function, various drivers, a speaker amplifier, and other auxiliary circuits.
