Recent mass outbreaks of diarrhea caused by cryptosporidium of pathogenic protozoa have attracted great concern. This paper outlines high sensitive turbidimeter required by the tentative guideline and measures of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Fuji Electric developed a high sensitive turbidimeter with a particle counter and realized he measurement of both turbidity lower than 0.1mg/L and particle concentration. The performance data (reproducibility and linearity) od the field test results are described and the possibility of application o membrane treatment is proposed.
