Young women have low brows. This is demonstrated by the brow position of fashion magazine cover girls. This position has been documented by the surface measurements performed by the medical anthropologist, Leslie Farkas. Furthermore, our measurements in cohort studies show that brows can elevate with aging. It is not uncommon for brow lift operations (both open and closed) to raise the brow to positions much higher, and to configurations much different, than that seen in youth. This elevation not only makes the patient look different than they did in youth, but also older, by hollowing the upper lids and raising the hairline.
