摘要

In this paper a new method is studied which can align the liquid crystals by the linear polarized photo-polymerization (LPP) using ultraviolet (UV) light. The electro-optical and time response characteristic curves of TNLCDs made of the double-rubbed (DR) and linear polarized photo-polymerization (LPP) substrates are measured. The dependence of threshold voltage of LPP-TNLCD and the anchoring intensity of the photo-alignment surfaces are studied on the temperature. The weak anchoring properties of the photosensitive polyimide PI (BTDA-TMMDA) are investigated. The mechanism of LC alignment on the weak anchoring surfaces was also discussed.
