Almost thirty years have passed since the first LES of turbulent flow was appeared and a large number of studies on validity and applicability of LES to the engineering problems have been made in various academic scenes such as in journals or conferences. Rut it seems that LES still does not play an important role in the actual design of engineering products or processes compared to the famous numerical simulations of RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes, or Reynolds Averaged Numerical Simulation). The reason may be not only simply because LES is expensive compared to RANS. In this article, we would like to mention what is the problem of LES in engineering problem, what is to lie noticed and what can be expected and obtained from LES by going back to the basic idea and concept of that.
