VP bandwidth, congestion, and restoration control schemes in ATM networks

A high performance integrated network, such as an ATM network, integrates various services into a single universal network and allows network resources to be fully utilized. For such networks, network reliability will be quite important since one congestion or failure causes serious impact on many network users. This paper proposes the priority dependent quality and resource control schemes to avoid network congestion conditions and to minimize network congestion and failure effects, and the VP bandwidth control scheme to effective use of the network resources. The performance results, using 3 ATM switches, are also discussed.
