摘要

Agricultural structural change since the late 1980s (1985-2000) in the core paddy field zone of Hokkaido, Japan, is examined. Trends towards farmland lease and part-time farming and changes in farm scale are revealed. Future trends in agricultural structure (up to the year 2020) are then explored.
