Effect of fertilizer minerals and climatic factors on the yield and yield components of rice

In a field trial in 1994-98, rice cv. Akitakomachi was given N, P and K singly and in all possible combinations. Yield was highest with NPK, followed by P, and lowest in treatments without P and without any fertilizer. Panicle number/m2 was highestwith NPK, followed by NP, and lowest in treatments without P. Spikelet number/per panicle was highest with NPK and lowest without fertilizer. The percentage of ripened grains was 87-93% throughout the 5 years with P and PK, but varied among years in treatments without P. Yield was correlated with the whole grain number, and the yield in treatments without P was correlated with the percentage of ripened grains. Yields with P, K and PK were correlated with the amount of solar radiation from June to July,and yields with N and NK plots were correlated with the mean air temperature from August to September.
