Prevention of lettuce root rot disease by organic fertilizer in hydroponics

Shinohara (2006) and Fujiwara et ah (2012) have reported some kinds of organic materials could be used as fertilizer in hydroponics for vegetable production and have a potential to suppress root disease. Corn steep liquor (CSL) is one of expected fertilizer. The aim of this study is to clarify the mechanism of suppressive effect of CSL application against lettuce root rot disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lactucae (FOL).
