'Snake Four' follows us in radar trail through the cloud cover. Some 2,000ft higher the sun is shining and the formation leader releases us together with our wingman. The flight is now divided into two elements: 'Snake One' and 'Two' - an experienced instructor pilot of Jagdgeschwader 73 'Steinhoff' (JG 73 'S') and a young lieutenant in the process of conversion framing on the Eurofighter - are to protect a simulated ground target in the south of the air combat zone as Blue Air, while 'Snake Three' and 'Four' now work as Red Air, the adversary component of this training mission.
