A survey of chromosome numbers in the Morphinae (Nymphalidae, Lepidoptera) I. Chromosome numbers of seven species in the genus Morpho and six species of the tribe Brassolini

Chromosome numbers of thirteen MorpMnae species belonging to the genera Morpho, Catoblepia, Caligo and Eryphanis were investigated in primary and secondary spermatocytes. The locality of the established chromosome numbers of these Morphinae are shown in Table 1, together with details of the relevant chromosome survey. The modal chromosome numbers in the present study are n=28 for Morpho and n=29 for Brassolini.
