摘要

It was exciting to read the paper written by Dr Angela Grainger on the potential capacity and capability for nursing/midwifery research across the workforce at King's Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC); embedding of research in the NHS has been long awaited. The initial scene-setting of the role of the AHSCs in the development of research, with the need to address the competing agendas within the clinical and academic institutions, highlighted that it will not be an easy task to drive the research and practice agenda forward in an evolving climate of change. The overarching aim of these formal partnerships is to provide an environment to focus on world-leading research, innovation in clinical services with supportive education and training programmes. Key to this is the development and delivery of high-quality care. It is excellent that nurses and midwives and will be part of this initiative.
