摘要

The aim of this study was to evaluate the degree of conversion of orthodontic adhesives with single-wave and dual-wave LED light-curing units. For adequate polymerisation the emission spectrum of the light source must match the absorption spectrum of the initiator. Increasing the concentration of initiator in the adhesive improves the degree of conversion (from monomer to polymer) and therefore, the mechanical properties. Above a certain threshold there is no further benefit, and the aesthetics of the material may be compromised. As a result CQ-amine (initiator) substitutes have been explored. However, the light absor-bance of these substitutes falls outside the emission spectrum of single-wave light-curing units. Hence, dual-wave light-curing units have been developed.
