Harmonic maps from 2-complexes

We develop the theory of harmonic maps from a flat admissible 2-complex into a metric space of non-positive curvature. As an application, we give a harmonic maps analysis of the Morgan-Shalen compactification of SL(2, C) representations of a finitely generated group.
