摘要

Besides hospital- and community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), also livestock-associated (LA-) MRSA has been reported. Since 2005, studies report this type frequently in pigs, but also in cattle, poultry and humans in contact with livestock (de Neeling et al,, 2007: WuJf et al., 2008; Vanderhaeghen et at., 2010; Pletinckx et. al., 2011). The influence of the presence of these different animal species and the humans in contact with livestock on each other and on the possible spread of MRSA is not yet fully understood. This is however important for developing an adequate control practice. Therefore, this study aims at better understanding the different sources of MRSA in direct and indirect pig environment.
