Production of crude steel was 21.26 mt during April-August 2007-08, a growth of 4 percent compared to same period of last year. The Main Producers produced 8.86 mt during this period, which was a decline of 0.4 percent compared to same period of last year. In the Secondary sector, EAF units (including COREX/MBF-EOF) produced 5.75 mt (growth of 7.5 percent) and IF units produced 6.65 mt (growth of 7.3 percent). Thus for the Secondary sector as a whole, crude steel production during April-August 2007-08 stood at 12.40 mt, a growth of 7.4 percent compared to same period of last year.
